Robby Nelson

Welcome— I am a lab tech in the BME department at Georgia Tech. My research interests are in creating chemically specific and computationally efficient microscopes.

About Me

I graduated with my Electrical Engineering bachelor's degree in May 2022 and am applying to BME/ECE Ph.D. programs with the intent of starting in Fall 2023. I am currently working on imaging prostate cancer with UV Microscopy in Dr. Paco Robles' lab. My involvements (past and present) are below- see CV for full info.

Research

Here are my past and present research efforts. More information is available on the research summary pages.

Engineering Organizational Involvements

These were my extracurricular engineering involvements during my undergrad

  • Teaching Assistant Microelectronics Lab (ECE 3043)

Internships

I interned each summer during undergrad

  • Embedded Firmware Intern (Summer '21) Tesla Motors, BMS Team
  • Automation/Validation Intern (Summer '20) Tesla Motors, Low Voltage Systems Validation
  • Electrical Design Intern (Summer '19) NCR, Self Checkout Group

Hobbies

Currently, I play viola in a community orchestra in Suwanee, GA.

During all four years of undergrad, I was actively involved in GT Ramblin' Raas (Traditional Garba Raas Indian Dance Team) as a Dancer and Production Chair. We competed at competitions around the country and qualified for the National Championships in 2020 and 2022. Here is a link to our 2022 performance at the national championship in Dallas!

I also enjoy being an amateur photographer, and I like to take and edit photos of friends, family, and places I go. Here is a link to my portfolio on Flickr.
